No more spam

I have recently applied a captcha method for commenting on this blog, via the means of this plugin.

The reason for doing so it’s not because I have too many comments but because I have too many spam comments. Over the past couple of days this has proved to work since I did not receive any spam at least for now and my spam count has gone down to zero, nothing, nada.

I think that wordpress should provide this option into the core, for anyone that would like to turn it on.

I know that some people argue that users don’t want to enter a captcha or can’t be bothered. My personal option is that if they can’t be bothered then they don’t want to be heart.

If you notice anything strange let me know.

  1. On a personal level I have been using akismet since my WP days and still loving it. The reason behind that is that I hate captchas myself and I’d rather not impose them to others. The number of times I get them wrong is plain silly :)

On some recent projects I have been using recaptcha which plays nicely with rails and it seems to be really good and highly accessible.

I like the one you are using here, readable, refresh-able and audio support. Just what people like me need :)

    • I am glad that you like it.

I still use akismet and I love it. But lately there where some spam comments that where coming through, so I set out to find one that will be simple and to the point.

I’ve used recaptcha on some projects too and it does play nice. But for my site I wanted something really really simple because I hate complex captchas myself.
