What is there to say, it’s Scary Movie number 4. If you’ve seen the horror movies that it’s making fun of then you ought to see this as well. I haven’t seen all of them, for example I haven’t seen Saw, but I still loved it. I would like to see it again, but I will wait when it comes to DVD.

Doom

Directed by: Andrzej Bartkowiak

Genres: Action, Horror, Sci-Fi, Thriller

Tagline: Hell Breaks Loose

Plot Outline: Based on the hit computer game about Marines sent to investigate what went wrong on a scientific research center on Mars where they face an evil unlike any other.

My Rating: 6 [rate 3]

Cast: Karl Urban, The Rock, Rosamund Pike, Dexter Fletcher, Ben Daniels, Al Weaver, Richard Brake, Yao Chin, Razaaq Adoti, Deobia Oparei, Brian Steele, Robert Russell, Daniel York, Ian Hughes, Sara Houghton

Nice film, a bit dark in the sense of not giving enough lighting to create suspense, mystery and make it more scary. Of course it didn’t work, because they only cared on making it dark enough so they could get away with some special effects.

Anyway, that’s just my opinion.

Underworld: Evolution

Genres: Action, Drama, Fantasy, Horror

Plot Outline: As the war between vampires and werewolves rages on, the legacy of both races is revealed. The personal histories of Selene (Beckinsale), the vampire warrior, and Viktor (Nighy), the father of modern-day vampires, are also revealed.

My Rating: 8 [rate 4]

Cast: Kate Beckinsale, Scott Speedman, Tony Curran, Derek Jacobi, Bill Nighy, Michael Sheen, Steven Mackintosh, Shane Brolly, Scott McElroy, John Mann, Richard Cetrone, Mike Mukatis, Alexander Grant, Andrew Kavadas, Raoul Ganeev

Write about Underworld Evolution here.

If you’ve seen Underworld, then you need to see Underworld: Evolution. This movie picks up right where Underworld left at the very same scene. Underworld Evolution is indeed an evolution, an evolution of the first film.

There isn’t much to talk about evolution without disclosing information about it. If you are the person who has seen Underworld and after the movie was finished there were many questions in my mind. This film answers that giving background information about the everlasting battle between the Vampires and the Werwolves.

The Brothers Grimm

Directed by: Terry Gilliam

Genres: Adventure, Comedy, Fantasy, Horror, Thriller

Tagline: Eliminating Evil Since 1812

Plot Outline: Will and Jake Grimm are travelling con-artists who encounter a genuine fairy-tale curse which requires genuine courage instead of their usual bogus exorcisms.

My Rating: 6 [rate 3]

Cast: Petr Ratimec, Barbara Lukêsova, Anna Rust, Jeremy Robson, Matt Damon, Heath Ledger, Radim Kalvoda, Martin Hofmann, Josef Pepa Nos, Harry Gilliam, Miroslav Táborský, Roger Ashton-Griffiths, Marika Sarah Procházková, Mackenzie Crook, Richard Ridings

I will have to agree with the “fairy-tale? word in the plot outline. Yes this is a fairy-tale, but what I ask of you is… how many?

While watching the film I can safely say that they’ve taken all the fairy-tales I know (the ones I can remember and could spot) and twisted them. Almost every myth the explore is made out of a fairy-tale.

After saying this, I say go and see it now.

P.S. I am not giving 10 because it could use improvements and besides if I give that 10 what am I going to give Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire…

Interview with the Vampire: The Vampire Chronicles

Directed by: Neil Jordan

Genres: Drama, Horror, Fantasy

Tagline: Drink From Me And Live Forever

Plot Outline: A vampire tells his epic life story: love, betrayal, loneliness, and hunger.

My Rating: 10 [rate 5]

Cast: Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, Kirsten Dunst, Stephen Rea, Antonio Banderas, Christian Slater, Virginia McCollam, John McConnell, Mike Seelig, Bellina Logan, Thandie Newton, Indra Ové, Helen McCrory, Lyla Hay Owen, Lee E. Scharfstein

This is not the first time I’ve seen this film, but when I saw in ‘What’s On’ the Uni’s weekly guide it was a calling. I had to see it again. So I convinced some friends that strangely enough haven’t seen this film before that their where missing big time. They believed me, they came and they loved it.

Aside from that, it’s a wonderful epic film with amazing depth and vibrancy, and a thoroughly engaging plot, well developed characters and an amazing feeling of living history.

A true classic.
