Dear Honda,

Note: I’ve thought of emailing this letter to someone at Honda HQ and see what they have to say on the subject (if they reply) but unfortunately I was unable to locate an email address so I am posting this at my personal site with the hope that someone will stumble upon it and give it to the right person.

First of all I would like to thank you for the wonderful and initiative design you have done to the Honda Civic (2006 Model) I own. I love almost every part of this car from the outside to the inside. The capture of the dashboard and they way it’s turned towards the driver it’s amazing and I do not believe any other car has this. I don’t need to take my eyes off the road to check a display.

But my amazement and admiration stops at that. I own the Honda Civic 1.8cc Business Class model of 2006. The car came with Navigation Control, Voice Control, and Integrated Bluetooth etc. The dealership here was kind enough to have the car fitted with rear parking sensors for me. Now you know my car.

As I said my admiration for your work stops at your design. Well you see I have a few problems with my car, so allow me to express them one by one below.

The Key

The very first thing that stoke me as soon as my car was delivered to me, was the key. In a few simple words, “It’s huge”. A friend that saw it asked me if I bought a boat.

I know that you have modeled the car’s design after the Honda Jet but come on people do you carry around that key to open up your Jet. No of course you don’t most probably it’s keyless.

I am not asking much but what I am asking is to at least give me the option of an accessory key or a premium key which I would happily pay for, even though I shouldn’t.

The Navigation

My second complain is the fact that my car has a build-in navigation system. As far as Cyprus is concerned this model car by Honda was the first in the island to have a factory build-in navigation system. But it didn’t have the Cyprus map.

At the time it was OK since the dealership here said that I would have the CD with the map well before the end of the year.

Of-course the end of the year came and passed and nothing happened. Actually two years came and passed and nothing happened. The worse part is that recently I found out from an employee at my local dealership that there is no intension of ever releasing a map for Cyprus.

That really pissed me off. So knowing that I would not get a map from Honda i turned to other sources finally I’ve talked to guy here that has the map and can export it for me so that it works for my car, but unfortunately Honda won’t release the information he needs to prepare the map. In end result actively stopping me from having a working navigation in my car.

To top it all off other companies have release navigation systems in their cars and they also give a map of Cyprus.

The Error

For a couple of months now, maybe even a year my car is giving me an error every time I turn the key and delay in pressing the start button. It says “Error Check System”. At Honda they told me that it’s a temporary error so they can not trace it, and they left it at that.
